A rather early watercolour in which one can see clearly how “context” is important.
It can shape the way one speaks on the telephone, one can recognise by tone of voice modulation with whom someone is speaking, and so it is for colour as well:
the rose/pink in this watercolour is constant, the Burnt Umber increases in tone …. and going downward the rose/pink becomes softer and softer, almost creamy.
